اس اک دعا کے لئے ہاتھ اب اٹھاؤں میں
نئی رتوں کے جھمیلے ہوں اس کا زاد سفر
شکست عرض تمنا پہ گنگناؤں میں
اٹھائے ناز وہی جس کی وہ امانت ہے
نہ روٹھے مجھ سے نہ جا کر اسے مناؤں میں
وہ روتی آنکھوں کرے چاک میری تصویریں
اک ایک کر کے سبھی اس کے خط جلاؤں میں
اٹھا کے دیکھے وہ کھڑکی کے ریشمی پردے
تو چاہنے پہ بھی اس کو نظر نہ آؤں میں
ہوا کے ہاتھ بھی پیغام وہ اگر بھیجے
خیال بن کے بھی اس کے نگر نہ جاؤں میں
وہ حادثات کی حدت سے جب پگھلنے لگے
تو چاند بن کے خنک دل میں جگمگاؤں میں
زخم پرانے پھول سبھی باسی ہو جائیں گے

درد کے سب قصے یاد ماضی ہو جائیں گے
سانسیں لیتی تصویروں کو چپ لگ جائے گی
سارے نقش کرشموں سے عاری ہو جائیں گے

شیشہ و جام شرابوں سے خالی ہو جائیں گے
کھلی چھتوں سے چاندنی راتیں کترا جائیں گی
کچھ ہم بھی تنہائی کے عادی ہو جائیں گے
کوچۂ جاں پر گہرے بادل چھائے رہیں گے زیبؔ
اس کی کھڑکی کے پردے بھاری ہو جائیں گے
نا امیدی کا شکار بن گیا ہوں۔
خود سے باغی یار بن گیا ہوں۔
دوست و احباب منہ نہیں لگاتے۔
آہ ! اس قدر نا ابکار بن گیا ہوں۔
اب کس سے مانگوں سوا تیرے؟
جب زمانے پر بار بن گیا ہوں ! ۔
کوئی تو سبب ہو زندگی جینے کا۔
کیوں موت کا طلبگار بن گیا ہوں؟
زمانہ نظر اٹھا نہیں دیکھتا مجھ کو۔
کیا اتنا ہی برا یار بن گیا ہوں؟
