وہ آنکھیں کتنی قاتل ہیں وہ چہرہ کیسا لگتا ہے

زوال جسم کو دیکھو تو کچھ احساس ہو اس کا

بکھرتا ذرہ ذرہ کوئی صحرا کیسا لگتا ہے

فلک پر اڑتے جاتے بادلوں کو دیکھتا ہوں میں

ہوا کہتی ہے مجھ سے یہ تماشا کیسا لگتا ہے

عجیب شہر کا نقشا دکھائی دیتا ہے

عجیب شہر کا نقشا دکھائی دیتا ہے

جدھر بھی دیکھو اندھیرا دکھائی دیتا ہے

نظر نظر کی ہے اور اپنے اپنے ظرف کی بات

مجھے تو قطرے میں دریا دکھائی دیتا ہے

برا کہے جسے دنیا برا نہیں ہوتا

مری نظر میں وہ اچھا دکھائی دیتا ہے

نہیں فریب نظر یہ یہی حقیقت ہے

مجھے تو شہر بھی صحرا دکھائی دیتا ہے

ہیں صرف کہنے کو بجلی کے قمقمے روشن

ہر ایک سمت اندھیرا دکھائی دیتا ہے

عجیب حال ہے سیلاب بن گئے صحرا

جسے بھی دیکھیے پیاسا دکھائی دیتا ہے

مانوس ہو گئے ہیں غم زندگی سے ہم

ہم کو خوشی ملے تو نہ لیں گے خوشی سے ہم

پھولوں کی آرزو نہ کریں گے کسی سے ہم

کانٹے سمیٹ لائے ہیں ان کی گلی سے ہم

سورج کریں طلوع نہ کیوں تیرگی سے ہم

سچ کے لئے ہم آج کے سقراط بن گئے

پیتے ہیں جام زہر کا اپنی خوشی سے ہم

ہم مل کے خود سے خود کو بھی پہچانتے نہیں

اپنے لیے بھی بن گئے ہیں اجنبی سے ہم

غم کھاتے کھاتے ہو گیا مانوس غم مزاج

ہو جاتے ہیں فسردہ و محور خوشی سے ہم

ہم کو وطن میں اب کوئی پہچانتا نہیں

اپنے وطن میں پھرتے ہیں اب اجنبی سے ہم

بن جائیں کیوں نہ خود ہی نمود سحر کی ضو

آسیؔ ضیا طلب نہ کریں تیرگی سے ہم

حرص و نادانی میں یہ تم کیا کر بیٹھے

 حرص و نادانی میں یہ تم کیا کر بیٹھے

خود کو ہی اپنی نظروں میں بیمقام کر بیٹھے

اپنی زمیں تو کیا تم تو ضمیر وخمیر بھی اپنا

اپنی زباں اپنی تحریر ہی گروی رکھ بیٹھے

اپنی آنیوالی نسلوں کو اپنے ہی ہاتھوں

اک موج بحر طوفاں کی نظر کر بیٹھے

پاس ہے تیرے اک مہرہ روز محشر کے لیۓ

کہیں اب تو اپنا ایمان ہی نہ گروی رکھ بیٹھے

ترے آنے کا دھوکا سا رہا ہے

دیا سا رات بھر جلتا رہا ہے

عجب ہے رات سے آنکھوں کا عالم

یہ دریا رات بھر چڑھتا رہا ہے

سنا ہے رات بھر برسا ہے بادل

وہ کوئی دوست تھا اچھے دنوں کا

جو پچھلی رات سے یاد آ رہا ہے

کسے ڈھونڈوگے ان گلیوں میں ناصرؔ

چلو اب گھر چلیں دن جا رہا ہے
